(The born again experience)
It’s sad but true many people who except Jesus as Lord go through life not truly knowing what took place in their lives. This causes many to fall back into the things of the world. It wasn’t until I came over to the Charismatic, Pentecostals until I saw the new converts taken to a back room so someone could explain what just happened to them. This impressed me and I believe it vital in helping new converts hold on to that which thou has
John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
So how do we get born again?
In order to live a victorious Christian life, it’s important to know and understand what has just taken place in our lives. The bible says that we are to be able to give an answer for the hope that is in us. I John 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
In other words we should be able to explain to someone what has taken place in our lives.
Romans 10:8-11 says But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
So how did you get born again? First you believed with your heart that Jesus is the Son of God. That He died on the cross for our sins and that He rose from the dead for our justification. Second you confess with your mouth these things and at that moment you become born again. (That’s what you did just moments ago when you prayed that prayer) But what exactly happened. IICor 5:17 7Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
It’s important to know that this verse is talking about the spirit man. You’ve probably noticed that you still look the same after praying that prayer. (Although sometimes a persons entire Constance can change) You will also notice that you will continue to think the same. Your thoughts will be much the same as before you prayed that prayer. The reason being is that you and I are Tri-part beings. We are a Spirit. We posses a Soul (your mind, will, and emotions.) and we live in a body. It was the spirit part of you that got born again.
When someone receives Jesus as Lord and savior they become born again. It’s as though sin never existed in there lives. The blood of Jesus washed all the sin in our lives away. In the eyes of God we are as little new born children, inocent, with no past only a bright future. But notice we still have two other parts in our make up to deal with the soul and our body. The bible gives the believer very direct instruction what we are to do about these parts. Romans 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. We see here in this scripture that it is our responsibility to do something with the other two parts of our make up. The body we are to present it a living sacrifice unto God. We can no longer allow it to do as it pleases; it has a new boss now our reborn spirit. Warning: Both of these parts will try to do like they have always done. But the new you has to take control and not let them. This is where the other part comes into play. The soul (mind will and emotions) the Word says to transform our minds with the Word of God. The Word teaches us that we are the ones that have to do something about these two parts are it will not get done. Now as we said earlier our minds and our bodies will continue wanting to do the same old things they always wanted to do. This is where many Christians miss it because they allow the enemy to condemn them and they question whether they were born again. When actually they were if they believed in their hearts and confessed with their mouths that Jesus is the Son of God and that he rose from the dead for their justification. (In other words Jesus was our substitute and bore our sins for us.) What the believer must understand is that after the salvation experience we must team up with the Holy Ghost in order to live a victorious Christian life. (Learn More)
Do not allow the other two parts of your make up team together and defeat your newly reborn spirit. Your spirit man must become stronger than the other two parts, body and mind (soul). It is in the realm of the soul (mind ,will,and emotions) that the enemy will temp you and try to defeat you. He dose this by trying to get you to take his thoughts. That’s why it’s so important to renew your mind with the word of God. Put God’s thoughts into your mind and you will win in life.
You can do it, stay in the Word let it become your thoughts. Let the Word correct you when you do wrong ,just be willing and obedient to do what the Word says to do.
